The Ilana Alexander Education Fund
To commemorate the life of Ilana Alexander at Westminster Synagogue, most specifically, her dedication to the Hebrew education of its member, we are keen to ensure her memory and what she stood for lives is preserved.
We would therefore like to invite you to help us to establish a Fund dedicated to Hebrew education, particularly for our Bar and Bat Mitzvah students which will carry Ilana’s name. In honour of her love for Israel, the Fund will also promote relationships between Westminster Synagogue and selected communities in Israel through their students. The Fund will be used to ensure that no young member of the community is prevented from pursuing their studies through lack of means and will be managed by the Rabbi, Director of Community and Education and Chairman of the Education Committee.
"We have lost a gem of a human being who was so loved in our community. Ilana was loved because she loved people and Hebrew and Torah so much"
Rabbi Benji
"The biggest inspiration in my journey was undoubtedly my dear friend Ilana who was my Hebrew teacher. She gave me confidence from being in the back row of the synagogue in services to sitting in the front row and finally feeling part of the community."
