Do you need assistance, or would you be able to help?
The Westminster Synagogue chesed team is committed to helping and caring for Synagogue members. We pride ourselves on our communal approach to chesed within our community. The chesed team is made up of experienced social care staff, Rabbis and lay leaders.
As a community we will continue to do everything we can, to be there for our members, whatever their needs and particularly for the elderly, lonely or vulnerable. We are there to alleviate any loneliness and to provide comfort. If you require collection and drop-off of medicines or groceries, please let us know - we are more than happy to help.
We are able to provide practical, pastoral, emotional and spiritual support, to all our members, whatever your age; or if you would simply like to talk to somebody, please call 020 7584 3953, or email Rabbi Benji or Ben Fromson, our Community Wellbeing manager.
If you are looking for best point of contact for an external Jewish or national organisation, please see our resource directory here.
Volunteering
We are eternally grateful to our volunteers who continue to support the work of our chesed team. If you would like to help, in any way, such as telephone befriending, dropping off groceries or medication, helping to run support and activity groups, we’d love to hear from you; just a few hours of your time can really help to make a positive difference to other people’s lives. We have volunteers supporting new parents and those members bereaved; helping out at social lunches and afternoon teas for older adults and facilitating casual 'Patisserie in the Park' meet-ups for those who just want to connect with others!
Please contact Ben Fromson, community chesed manager for more information on how you can get involved.
