A gift in your Will will help…

One of the most effective ways of helping any charity is to leave a bequest in your Will. Bequests are completely free of Inheritance Tax, so money from your estate, which might otherwise have gone in tax, can benefit the Synagogue instead. This is particularly relevant for those who may not be able to afford to give in their lifetime.

We have prepared a helpful guide to preparing a will. If you have not already done so, you can download it here. We can introduce you to a Jewish solicitor, a member of the congregation, who will advise you on the preparation of your will and draft it for you, on an arm’s length basis.

You can determine how you want your bequest to be spent and you may wish to discuss this with the Rabbi. Alternatively you can leave it to the Honorary Officers to use it to meet the needs of the Synagogue.

Alternatively, you may wish to write a Letter of Wishes, a copy of which may be downloaded here.  This Letter enables you to indicate to your executors that you would like to donate, on a tax free basis, to Westminster Synagogue from your estate. It saves you the trouble of rewriting your Will and whilst not binding on your executors, is nearly always enacted by them.

Whatever you choose to do, your bequest will be of enormous value to future generations of this community.
