In some cases, for whatever reason, a Jewish person may discover that they are Jewish without previously realising it. They may know about their Jewish background but have had little or no formal experience, upbringing or Jewish education. Other people may have been more aware of their links to Judaism and over the years have built up their knowledge and connections to the faith. In either case, they may decide that they wish to formalise their Jewish status, and that is something that, if it is the right thing for you, we are happy to help with.
The first step is a conversation with the Rabbi after which he would be able to advise as to whether a full conversion would be most appropriate, or applying to the Rabbinic Board for a Certificate of Status, which confirms the person's Jewish identity. In either case, candidates would be required to participate in our programme at a level appropriate for their knowledge and background, and when the time is right, they can be proposed to the Rabbinic Board.
If you have further questions about conversion or confirmation of status, please contact Guy Ronen, PA to the Rabbinic Team.
